Bristol headquartered law firm TLT has been appointed to Sovereign Housing Association’s new legal services framework to provide a full range of property and development advice.

Sovereign is one of the largest housing associations in the country with almost 60,000 homes in the south of England.

Sovereign has appointed a total of 17 firms to the panel following a competitive tender process, with eleven of those appointed to the property & development lot. The appointment is set to last 4 years and the panel formally begins its mandate this month.

TLT’s successful bid for the property and development lot reflects the firm’s strength in the affordable housing space, with the firm regularly advising registered providers across a number of key areas including real estate and planning, tax, property litigation, procurement and construction. The firm is also currently appointed to some of the main housing legal panels, including the Housing Association’s Legal Alliance (HALA) and the Central Housing Investment Consortium (CHIC).

The tender process was led by Linda Convery, Sarah Hale and Shazia Bashir, partners in TLT’s Housing and Regeneration team.

Linda Convery, partner and head of the Housing and Regeneration team at TLT, says:

“We’re really pleased to be appointed to Sovereign’s legal panel to support them with their ambitious plans and ongoing commitment to building sustainable and affordable housing.

“Registered providers are currently facing big challenges and our experience with large scale residential developments and modern methods of construction, alongside our relationships with key industry organisations, puts us in a strong position to be able to support Sovereign as it strives to provide good quality, affordable housing.”
