  • Anthony Collins Solicitors wins Paralegal of the Year at the Birmingham Law Society Awards

Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS) has picked up Paralegal of the Year after being shortlisted for four categories at the Birmingham Law Society Awards.

Now in its 20th year, the awards ceremony celebrates the successes and achievements of the Midlands' legal community.

The Birmingham-based social purpose law firm won at the event held at the ICC Birmingham on 31 March, winning Paralegal of the Year.

Rebecca Chauhan won the Paralegal of the Year award, recognising her work in social housing.

ACS had two shortlisted entries for the Partner of the Year, with David Alcock, partner in the social business team, and Christopher Lloyd-Smith, partner in the life stage planning team.

The social purpose law firm was also shortlisted for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award, recognising the firm's effort towards achieving and promoting equality and diversity.

The award win follows the publication of ACS's Social Impact Report, revealing the scale and positive effects of its social-purpose-driven legal work in 2021, including work with charities, local government, social business and health and social care sectors, as well as individuals.

Peter Hubbard, senior partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, said:

“All of our team members have completed far-reaching, impactful work this year, so to have the work of some of our partners and paralegals recognised by the Birmingham Law Society is a real achievement for the firm.

“ACS is committed to improving lives, communities and society, and there is a lot of work we’ve been very proud of this past year, such as the launch of the Help to Own scheme in the Midlands, or the creation of a social mobility toolkit for employers looking to diversify their recruitment.”

Three new partners were appointed for ACS earlier this year, as Steven Brunning joins the governance and commercial team, Paul Slinger joins the construction team and Claire Ward joins the local government team.
