National law firm Shoosmiths has boosted its national regulatory practice with the appointment of commercial partners, Roy Tozer and Charles Arrand.
Roy Tozer and Charles Arrand will be joining Shoosmiths’ Birmingham and Milton Keynes offices, respectively.
Both lawyers have strong reputations as leading national regulatory advisors, supported by an impressive client list and high profile cases including advising clients on the horse meat scandal, oil refinery explosions, sporting enquiries, money laundering, internal investigations, food safety, product liability, environmental issues and numerous fatal accident cases in the construction, rail, retail and manufacturing sectors.
Roy has been a regulatory partner for 14 years, heading up a regulatory group in Birmingham. He has handled some of the highest profile health, safety and environmental cases in recent years and many multi-jurisdictional product liability cases.
Roy has been described in Legal 500 as ‘tactically excellent and rarely puts a foot wrong in handling cases’, and has also been named a ‘star individual’ in health and safety by Chambers and Partners. His ‘sound judgement and commercial awareness’ combined with how he ‘appreciates the implications, picks his fights and looks at the issues and distils them into five things that matter’ has earnt Roy many loyal clients.
Charles was a regulatory partner for over 11 years at DLA Piper, previous to this he was at Pinsent Masons. He has extensive experience in advising both individuals and well-known brands on a range of regulatory issues including investigations and prosecutions in relation to regulatory offences.
Clients have described Charles’ ability to remain ‘utterly calm and considered’ during high pressure matters while his excellent over view of the legislative framework combined with his ability to see the important details as well as the bigger picture make him an ‘absolute pleasure to work with’.
