Louise Thornhill has been appointed head of investment management in the Bristol office of Smith & Williamson, in the latest round of promotions at the accountancy, investment management and tax group.

Two new partners have been appointed at the firm’s Bristol office – Faye Hall and John Davies – and there are two new associate directors, Jamie Kirkpatrick and Sarah Bacon, who work in the investment management and private client tax teams respectively.

Louise Thornhill is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and succeeds John Erskine, who takes on a new national role as head of financial services across the firm. Louise works with private clients, managing discretionary portfolios for individuals, trusts and charities.

Faye Hall heads Smith & Williamson’s forensics team in Bristol. She specialises in financial remedies such as expert valuation and quantum reports for matrimonial proceedings and commercial disputes. She has valued companies across the UK and in offshore jurisdictions including China and the USA.

John Davies, also a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, is a private client and charities investment specialist, and manages investments for individuals, families and their trusts.

Carl Deane, managing partner at Smith & Williamson in Bristol, says:

“Louise was only appointed a partner last year and her promotion to head up our investment management team is richly deserved.

“These senior-level promotions recognise the hard work and commitment which Louise, Faye, John, Jamie and Sarah have shown to their clients, as well as their contribution to the business over many years.

“Smith & Williamson has a strong culture of reward and recognition which translates into a long and dedicated service from our people and a loyal client base.”
