Specialist personal injury law firm Novum Law has extended its service offering in Bristol with the key senior appointment of associate legal director, Mary Smith.

Mary joins the firm’s Bristol team, which to date, has specialised in helping clients in Bristol and the South West affected by asbestos disease. Novum Law’s Bristol office will now extend its expert legal services to include complex medical negligence and serious personal injury compensation claims.

Mary has over 12 years’ experience representing clients in a wide range of medical negligence claims throughout the South West of England and nationally. High profile cases she’s been involved in include misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of serious illnesses and surgical and prescribing errors.

She also has extensive experience working on serious personal injury cases, including those involving traumatic brain injuries and in addition, has represented many bereaved families at inquests over the years.

Mary joins Novum Law from Swindon-based S.J. Edney Solicitors where she worked as an associate for seven years, handling a variety of medical negligence and personal injury cases, including work on complex compensation claims involving mental health, sexual assault and human rights.

As associate legal director, Mary will head up Novum Law’s new specialist medical negligence and personal injury practice in Bristol, a key strategic development for the firm, which is looking to extend its expert legal services throughout the South of England and strengthen its position as a leading law firm representing people who’ve been seriously injured or harmed.

Mary said:

“I am thrilled to be joining Novum Law at this stage in my career, to launch their specialist medical negligence and serious personal injury practice in Bristol. The firm has an excellent reputation for taking on complex, high value claims and getting maximum results for people who’ve sustained life-changing injuries or become seriously ill, through no fault of their own.

“I am looking forward to growing Novum Law’s client base both here in Bristol and throughout the South West region and using the expertise I’ve built over the years to benefit even more people and make a positive difference in their lives.”

Tim Robinson, Finance Director of Novum Law, said:

“Medical negligence and serious personal injury cases are often technical and highly complex requiring legal expertise and tenacity to get to the heart of the matter and achieve the best outcomes for our clients. Mary is an experienced and talented solicitor who will be a tremendous asset to our business, and we’re thrilled she’s joining our team.”
