Leading commercial law firm Acuity Law has launched a Bristol office, prompted by a record number of consultancy hires in the region, and the ambition to increase growth by a further 50% in 2022.

The success of Acuity’s recently-launched consultancy arm – Acuity Consult, has led to demand for a physical presence in the Southwest, to add to the portfolio of existing offices in Cardiff, London, and Swansea.

The new office at the Generator Building at the city’s Finzels Reach, provides an ideal base to support increased staff and consultancy count at the professional services firm, where an ongoing recruitment drive is in place to fulfil buoyant merger and acquisition developments across the business.

Established in 1999, the Acuity team has grown to more than 100 exceptional and instinctively commercial lawyers working throughout the UK, including 25 consultants shaping the business’ growing consultant community.

Naturally inquisitive and entrepreneurial, Acuity’s Consultancy arm provides self-employed lawyers with an unbridled opportunity to leverage a market-leading platform, ‘Powered by Acuity Law’. This innovative offering encapsulates the benefits of freelance working with the advantages presented by the backing of a modern law firm - a solution not offered by other disruptors.

Ed Finley, who heads up Acuity Consult said:

“The launch of a Bristol office is an exciting but natural development for us as we grow our unique offering in the legal consultancy market. Whilst our consultants enjoy the benefit of working from anywhere they choose, supporting our consultant community by providing well-designed offices in key cities at no extra cost is an integral part of our offering.”

Acuity’s Commercial Director, Adele Carter commented

“Bristol had been in the pipeline for two to three years, as a market we were really interested in growing to enhance our offering.

“For most self-employed lawyers, consultancy can be a disparate place, with many feeling siloed and disconnected from those around them. Acuity Consult provides the very best of both worlds – the freedom and autonomy of self-employment with the camaraderie and collaboration offered by being part of a forward-thinking law firm.”

To align with their ambitious growth plans, Acuity has welcomed Bristol-based Real Estate Lawyer, Jonny Beck to lead Acuity’s Bristol real estate team. With an impressive career spanning 20 years, Jonny brings with him a wealth of commercial real estate experience, helping property investors and lenders navigate property transactions. This exciting addition further galvanises the firm’s highly-regarded real estate function and further cements their footprint in the Bristol market.

He said:

“I look forward to leading the Bristol Real Estate team and adding to our national advisory reach,” he said. “Acuity Law has grown to become a strategic partner for clients across a number of sectors and I look forward to building on this momentum.”

Steve Berry, Chairman at Acuity Law added:

“This is the next generation of legal consultancy. We continue to be very much both a client and talent-led firm for business to business, city level clients.”
