Exeter Cathedral School will be holding a Virtual Open event on the morning of Saturday 6 March 2021.

The webinar-style event, held on Zoom, will be an opportunity for families to learn more about the School – known in the country for its strength in the creative arts and its family feel.

Led by the Headmaster, Mr James Featherstone, the event will be an opportunity to get a flavour of life at ECS – a purposeful community where people matter, where children are given the opportunity to flourish, and where you can feel confident that the very best of hands and hearts will guide them on their journey.

Opening with the Head of Drama & English, Director of Music and Head of Art & Design, the Creativity & Performance section will enable families to learn more about the plethora of creative activities on offer from the more than 200 individual music lessons that happen each week, regular performance opportunities in the Cathedral and innovative art exhibitions.

The second strand, Our Learning Journey with the Head of Pre-Prep, Senior Deputy Head and Head of Enrichment and Scholarships, will set out the academic approach of the School, including the sector-leading remote learning programme and other highlights such as the 84% of pupils that gained Awards to their chosen senior schools in 2020.

Mind, Body & Soul will be the final strand, with the Director of Sport, Deputy Head (Pupils) and School Chaplain offering a taste of the wellbeing programme, sporting exploits and spiritual life at ECS.

Finishing with an opportunity to ask questions to staff and pupils, there will also be a chance to arrange personal meetings and to find a future date to visit the School.

Founded in the 12th century as a choir school, it is an Ancient Foundation with Traditional values and a Modern approach. Nowadays it educates some 275 boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 13. ECS has seen a surge of new pupils over the last year and achieved the top grading of ‘Excellent’ in all areas during its most recent Inspection.

The School promotes the central importance of the development of character and the modelling and promoting of the right habits for life. It is a place where children can be children; every child is known and valued as an individual.
