Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College will be welcoming a line-up of Birmingham’s most successful businesses this week, to inspire its students to think outside the box when it comes to their careers. The only OFSTED Grade 1 college in Birmingham and Solihull, JCC’s very first Progression Day builds on the success of Careers and Higher Education fairs in previous years, and will introduce students to over 50 working professionals to offer an insight into the world of work.

From local SMEs to global firms, representatives from across the board will come together for the day to open the students’ eyes to the vast range of sectors available to them beyond college.

With a line-up that includes entrepreneurs, consultants, professors, medics, corporates and creatives, the day will push its students to engage in conversations about their future and what can be done to best prepare for it.

With over 60 courses available, including 35 AS and A Levels and a range of vocational options like Children's Play, Learning and Development, Criminology, and Graphic Design – as well as HNCs & HNDs in Healthcare Practice and Performing Arts from September 2019 – Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College is working hard to ensure its students are prepared for the working world that awaits.

However, it hopes the Progression Day brings these lessons to life, helping to develop its students’ understanding of how their education will develop into a career through meaningful employer engagements.

The launch of the first Progression day at the college is something that Principal Tony Day is passionate about. He commented:

“Here at JCC, we want to ensure that the time our learners spend with us equips them for life beyond us. With the fastest growing economy outside the capital, Europe’s youngest population, and the most rapidly improving city to live in on their doorstep, we want to show our students the boundless opportunities that await them after college in Birmingham.

We cannot wait to welcome our speakers to JCC this week – the diverse line-up, with everything from lawyers and accountants, junior doctors and physiotherapists, poets and artists, and everything in between, attending this event will give our students a unique opportunity to understand the working world and know how to best prepare themselves, whilst still in education.”

Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College is hosting the Progression Day on Thursday 27th June 2019 from 9am to 3pm. For more details, please click here.
