College to offer advice on new T level courses
Access Creative College will open the doors to its state-of-the-art Manchester campus this month to show students the opportunities available to train for careers in the creative industries.
The open day, on Tuesday 29th October, will showcase courses to help develop the next generation of creatives; from games and events production through to music technology, graphic design & digital production.
What’s more, students will be able to find out more about the new T Level courses which begin in September 2020. T Levels are the governments new flagship qualifications and an alternative to the academic A Level option. They offer learners the opportunity to excel in technical disciplines aligned to specific job roles and the qualifications have been designed by employers including Fujitsu and IBM.
Access Creative College will be one of only 50 providers of this new qualification in Manchester and will offer Digital Production, Design & Development for the first intake of students.
Aurelian Popescu, Manchester Centre Manager, at Access Creative College, comments, “Our open days give students the chance to get hands on with our games, media, music and events courses. They can meet tutors and students and take a look at the industry standard facilities on offer.
“With year 11 students in the throes of making their decisions about post-16 education, we want to highlight the opportunities available to them. This includes the new T Level qualification - designed by educators together with employers, the courses are a combination of classroom study and 45 days of work experience to give students current skills that are in demand by UK business today. We’ve chosen to be one of the pioneers offering T Levels because we believe them to be a great option for students that are considering a career in a specialist sector, where upon completion, they will be ready to work in their chosen field, or use the UCAS points to progress to a higher education course”
Access Creative College will also offer the first delivery of the ‘T Level Transition Programme’, a course to help prepare young people who are not ready to start a T Level at age 16, but who can realistically be expected to complete the qualification by age 19.
