Property and construction consultancy Gleeds Birmingham is holding a treasure hunt with a twist this September – aiming to raise over £2,000 for UK-based charity Fields of Life, which brings valuable education to local communities in East Africa.

The Gleeds Treasure Hunt will take place on Thursday 5 September, with industry members from across the city and the West Midlands coming together to take part in the exciting event, all while raising vital funds for charity.

For 2019, the Gleeds office in Birmingham has chosen Fields of Life as its designated charity, with money raised from the event going towards the organisation’s project of building a primary school in Rwanda.

Fields of Life collaborates with communities across East Africa to build hope and transform lives. This is through bringing crucial education to the region with the construction and refurbishment of much-needed primary schools, as well as the building of wells to provide clean, safe drinking water.

150 people will be involved in this year’s treasure hunt, with each team of six donating £60 to take part. Food and drink will be supplied at the end of the trail and there will also be a raffle at the final venue, as well as the announcement of the winning team and total amount raised – with organisers hoping to raise in excess of £2,000.

The money raised will be donated to the Fields of Life project in Rwanda to build classrooms, a sanitary block, a rain water harvesting system, and bring new classroom furniture and teaching equipment to Hope Nursery and Primary School in Rutunga, which is approximately 10 kms from the capital Kigali.

The event will start at Bar Opus, located in Snowhill One in Birmingham, at 4pm – with the event scheduled to finish by 9pm. Gleeds team members as well as participating clients, contractors and consultants will be split into teams of six and given a clue sheet with directions to the first venue, where they can then pick up further clues for details on the next location, and ongoing until they reach the final destination.

At each pub venue, there will be questions to answer for added points, as well as a picture round and bonus round hidden on the hunt.
