The Manchester office of law firm TLT has celebrated raising more than £12,000 to help keep children in Greater Manchester safe for the past three years.

TLT raised the money as part of a three-year adoption of the NSPCC’s school service, which aims to teach all primary school pupils about speaking out and staying safe in an age-appropriate way.

Gary Freeman, chairman of TLT’s Manchester charity committee, said:

“Our team has worked exceptionally hard to make as much money as possible for our donation to the NSPCC – hosting everything from quiz nights with celebrity hosts, to a mixed netball tournament and taking part in the Espionage City Centre Challenge.

“We’ve also had a lot of support from other companies in the Manchester business community, who have really got on board to help us meet our fundraising target including Pure Gym who support our annual Tour de TLT (a cross-office cycle race).

“We know that there are lots of children out there that experience awful things in their childhoods, but by helping the NSPCC school service visit even more children across Greater Manchester we can help children know how to reach out and protect themselves from an earlier age.”

Deborah Sefton, community fundraising manager for the NSPCC, said:

“We are so very grateful to the team at TLT – with their kind donation we have been able to visit an additional 22 schools across Greater Manchester, reaching thousands of children with important safeguarding messages.

“Our Speak Out Stay Safe schools service helps children to recognise feelings of being worried or upset, and different types of abuse and neglect, and helps them understand how to get help if they feel this way in an age appropriate way.

“We want to empower whole generations of children to speak out and stay safe, but need support from donations to do this. We would love to work with other companies in the Greater Manchester area to make sure we can reach more children than ever before.

“With your help we can visit more schools and help even more children.”
