Accountancy, investment management and tax group Smith & Williamson has raised over £1,000 for The Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity.

The firm took an exhibition stand at the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association (PLSA) conference in Liverpool, an annual gathering of decision makers in the pensions industry.

The stand featured a competition to win figurines from the charity’s recent Gromit Unleashed 2 trail. The Smith & Williamson team on the stand succeeded in raising £1,160 for The Grand Appeal by donating £5 for every competition entry.

Matthew Maneely, a partner at Smith & Williamson in Bristol and head of the firm’s pensions assurance team, attended the three-day event along with several colleagues.

“While The Grand Appeal is one of the most prominent charities in the South West, we were still amazed at the level of interest generated by our stand, at what was a national event being held in a different part of the country,”

he said.

“We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy cause.”

Helen Haskell, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Grand Appeal, said:

“The money raised by Smith & Williamson in Liverpool will make a life-changing difference to the critically ill children we meet every day.

“This amazing team has raised an incredible amount for patients and their families from across the South West and we simply cannot thank them enough for their continued support of Bristol Children’s Hospital.”
