SCORE… Beech Hall Pupil Hosts Charity Football Match

Beech Hall School pupil, Luke Chapman, has staged a major soccer event in aid of children’s charity When You Wish Upon a Star, which saw his own team of ‘Real Life Superheroes’ battle it out against a line-up of celebrities.


Luke (13), recruited his team of ‘Real Life Superheroes’ which included a trio of Beech Hall staff - Headmaster James Allen, Form Tutor Alex Bedwell and Learning Support Assistant James Jardine. The side also boasted acclaimed amputee footballer Jamie Tregaskiss, and Michael Lewis AKA Saracen from ITV’s Gladiators.


The determined team tackled a star-studded squad from the award-winning soap, Hollyoaks, with familiar characters such as Darren, Tony, Harry, Jack and Jesse taking to the pitch.


An impressive £2188.00 was raised during the event for When You Wish Upon a Star, which aims to grant the wishes of children living with life-threatening illnesses. The fun-filled day hosted by compère Paul Sleem and charity mascot, Wish Bear, concluded in an 8-5 victory for Hollyoaks!!


Headmaster James Allen commented,

“I was honoured to be invited to play in Luke’s team of ‘Real Life Superheroes’. He is an inspirational pupil who has orchestrated yet another impressive charitable event, while also representing our core values here at Beech Hall School.

“The level of commitment and dedication that Luke inputted in order to stage such a high-profile and memorable event is to be commended. We are all very proud of his efforts and significant achievement.”


Beech Hall School is a non-selective independent school for children aged from six months to 16 years old. It is situated in a stunning 16-acre site with two listed buildings, playing fields and a swimming pool.
