Directors and staff from leading Midlands recruitment agency, Encore Personnel, scored a hole in one at their first charity event of the year to support blind war veterans and young people with Diabetes.

To raise money for its two chosen charities, the Blind Veterans UK and Juvenile Diabetes charity JDRF, Encore, which employs more than 200 staff spanning across 10 branches, including its head office in Leicester and offices in Nottingham and Derby city centres, hosted a charity golf tournament at the Wrekin Golf Club, Shropshire.

Each player donated £20 to enter the tournament as well as other members of the Encore team adding to the fundraising pot to show support. Collectively the total stands at £900 but the business is hoping for one last influx of donations to help reach the £3000 mark. Encore has set up JustGiving pages to collect donations.

The golf day involved an 18-hole round of golf where teams competed for the winner’s trophy. There were also a variety of prizes on offer for the winning golfers on the day, along with numerous raffle prizes up for grabs.

Andy Lewis, Operations Director at Encore and organiser of the event, said:

“A lot of preparation went into this tournament and it was a brilliant day all round. It was so nice to get the Encore team together and raise money for two extremely important charities that we hope to support with significant donations.”

The team at Encore will be spending the rest of the year fundraising to help reach its huge target of £22,000 by hosting a variety of fundraising events including, a murder mystery, bake-off, summer cookout and an ’80s themed fancy dress day.

Since 2013, Encore has placed a real emphasis on supporting and raising funds for various causes and organisations close to the hearts of its staff, having donated over £110,000 in the last nine years.
