More than 150 members of the team from Midlands-based PKF Cooper Parry have added gardening, cleaning and painting to their many talents over the last week – and all in the name of charity.

PKF Cooper Parry, which has offices in Birmingham, launched its first Community Week in August 2015 as part of its CP Giving Programme, which pledges to carry out 365 days of volunteering every year – the equivalent of one day for every employee.

Following the success of last year’s activities, the firm extended its commitment this year, supporting 10 charities and contributing around 1200 hours of volunteered time to charities and good causes across the West and East Midlands.

150 team members volunteered to take part in a variety of activities across the county. Some of the team spent their day supporting the fundraising team at Marie Curie, Solihull, whilst others supported with stone painting and helped with a deep clean at the Ronald McDonald Centre in Birmingham.

A group also supported Cure Leukaemia in Birmingham by carrying out telephone surveys, whilst others spent the last day of Community Week helping in the food kitchen at Birmingham’s Food Cycle.

The week’s activities have taken the PKF Cooper Parry team more than half way to achieving its 2016 volunteering target.

Ade Cheatham, CEO at PKF Cooper Parry, said:

“Getting out of the office and into our local communities really opens your eyes to just how hard charities and voluntary organisations have to work in order to deliver their valuable services.

“Working together to carry out a variety of practical tasks is not only a great team building experience for us, but the knowledge that you’ve contributed in a small way to some incredible causes is really satisfying and gives a moral boost to everyone involved.

“Being generous is one of our core values, so next year we’re going to make our Community Week even bigger!”

Joy Dangerfield, Volunteer Co-ordinator at The Ronald McDonald Centre in Birmingham, added:

“The stone paint was a great success and we have to send a huge thank you to the guys who volunteered with us here as they were really interested in the house and what we do.

“The team from Cooper Parry did a fantastic job in keeping the children interested and happily chatted away with all of them.

“Thank you for coming along with your team and supporting us.”

Over the past 11 years PKF Cooper Parry has raised moneyfor a range of local and national charities, including Macmillan, Alzheimer’s Society, Loros Hospice, Rainbows Hospice and Headway.

The firm is the headline sponsors of this year’s Colour Blast Dash family runs, which are taking place across the Midlands to raise money for Leicester charity The Laura Centre, which offers bereavement counselling for parents and children.
