The Rum Map of Greater Manchester is back and even better

Calling all rum fans!

The Rum Map of Manchester is back with a bang, and the city’s hottest rum joints and cocktails have been plotted on an awesome map created by prolific local doodler, Dave Draws.

The 2022 rum map has been spearheaded by cult local spirits firm Salford Rum in partnership with Salford Lads Club, who will benefit from donations generated by print sales of the map.

Last year, Salford Rum launched the first map which celebrated the best rum joints, cocktails and sensational serves in the city - to local and national applause. Designed by Dave Draws and powered by the people, the map gave locals and visitors to Greater Manchester a first-hand guide to finding and sampling the very best that the area has to offer.

Tommy Gaughan, co-founder of Salford Rum, said:

“This year, the map is back and its bigger and better than before. We have crowd-sourced Greater Manchester’s favourite rum joints and serves to plot the best places to enjoy a rum cocktail in the city centre, which spans Manchester and Salford. The result is a fabulous map that can be downloaded for free and used as a guide or purchased as a cool limited edition print to raise money for the iconic and incredible Salford Lads Club.”

This year, the map features thew newly opened Dirty Old Town Distillery, home of Salford Rum, and some cocktail picks by local bartending legends and cocktail gurus including Jamie Stephenson.

Highlighted are serves such as the classic Mai Tai at Arcane, the pineapple and grenadine-fused prohibition cocktail,The Mary Pickford at Schofield’s and the new Banana Daquiri at Salford Rum’s newly opened Dirty Old Town Distillery. Other local rum joints that have made the 2022 map include Bunny Jackson’s, Lono Cove, Tarriff and Dale, Liar’s Club and Speak in Code.

The Salford Rum Company was created in 2018 when James Harrison and Tommy Gaughan - rugby-league-playing high school friends - took inspiration from the growing gin category, which was flying high due to buckets of innovation and creativity and set out to make a local premium rum that would rival the luxury gin products on the market.

Salford Rum’s premium spiced rums - which include an Original Spiced, a Dark Spice and a Honey Rum - were created as a passionate celebration of the history, heritage and people of Salford Docks in Greater Manchester throughout the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Salford Rum plans to raise funds Salford Lads Club which provides opportunities for local young people in sports and arts.
