A big-hearted team from eStar Truck & Van, the newest Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Vans business in the North West and North Wales, yesterday completed a 100km bike ride from Manchester to Blackpool, raising over £7,000 for The Christie - one of the largest cancer treatment centres of its type in Europe.
Steve Bridge, managing director of eStar, and one of the cyclists that took part in the charity bike ride, said:
“Sadly, we’re all touched in one way or another by cancer – whether directly or indirectly – so while the 100km bike ride was challenging, with the hills and the weather, to know that you’re doing it to raise money for such an important local charity, pushes you on. The journey we faced yesterday is nothing compared to the journey that people with cancer go through, so we felt it was important to do our bit.”
The team of 17 cyclists that included eStar friends from AGM Auto Electrics, who kindly sponsored the cycling jerseys, plus two volunteer drivers that shuttled the crew back, raised more than £7,000 in total.
