Award-winning gritting and snow clearance company AA Salt has become the latest local business to pledge its support for a spectacular public art trail which is coming to Worcester this summer.
The Himbleton-based family firm, which helps businesses keep premises safe by gritting and snow ploughing car parks and access roads, has become the latest firm to get involved with the Worcester ‘Big Parade’ initiative – an eight-week public art event which will see 30 colourful elephant sculptures forming an art trail around the city between July and September.
The large sculptures will also be joined by smaller elephant calf models which will be covered in artwork designed by students and community groups, with the large sculptures being auctioned off once the project ends.
AA Salt will sponsor a large and an elephant calf model – with the smaller model being designed and kept by children at Bromsgrove’s Charford First School after being nominated by an employee of the firm.

“We absolutely loved being involved in the Stands Tall project two years ago and really wanted to show our support again in this latest initiative which I am certain will also be amazing for the city after the difficult year everyone has had.
“What we love about the project is that it not only raises much-needed funds for an amazing charity, but it also gets local school children and the community involved. This year we will be working with Charford First School in Bromsgrove and the campaign St Richards Hospice and Wild in Art have put together for children is incredible and inspiring.”

AA Salt’s support for the St Richard’s Hospice project follows its involvement in the 2018 Worcester Stands Tall initiative which saw 31 giraffe sculptures brightening up the city – raising over £200,000 for the hospice after being auctioned off. As part of that initiative the company worked with pupils from Bowbrook House School near Pershore who designed one of the sculptures which now sits in the school grounds.
AA Salt are recognised experts in gritting, snow ploughing and supply of bulk loads of salt and serviced grit bins to businesses and private customers. Supporting many businesses during the recent wintery weather in December, the firm is known for its environmental credentials and charitable support.
