Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntspill will be holding an extra special charity ball in October to mark its silver jubilee.

The annual event, this year themed as The Ugly Bug Ball, will celebrate 25 years of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation work and guests are being encouraged to come dressed as their favourite insect.

As well as live music, a three-course meal, a casino and cabaret, there will be prizes for the best costume. There will also be a grand raffle and silent auction with some amazing donated prizes.

Mike Dilger, best known for his wildlife reporting for The One Show, will be compere for the evening, which is bound to be a wild night!

The annual charity ball was originally started by the charity’s founder Pauline Kidner to raise funds and awareness of the charity which rescues and releases over 5,000 animals each year.

Samantha Hannay, Head of External Relations at Secret World, said:

“With it being our 25th anniversary, it is an extra special year for us at Secret World Wildlife Rescue and Mike Dilger, one of our patrons, will be adding an extra sense of fun.

“Our annual ball has become a bit of a tradition and last year we welcomed over 200 guests.

“We are all looking forward to celebrating Secret World's achievements and raising vital funds so we can help even more sick and injured animals.”

Tickets for the event, at Webbington Hotel in Loxton, cost £40 per person and can be bought via the website or by phone on 01278 783250. Anyone who books a table of 10 will receive two free bottles of wine!
