A MIDLANDS flooring retailer is supporting an independent Christian charity which helps men, women and families affected by hardships that lead to social exclusion.

In response to a request from Betel UK, Coventry-based Flooring Superstore has donated £500 worth of carpet for a new centre opening soon in the Burton-on-Trent area.

The centre will provide accommodation and support to people with mental health illness, drug and alcohol addiction and women who have experienced domestic violence.

The service, which will be run by Betel UK – Derby, will provide dormitory-style accommodation for up to 18 people as they start to re-build their lives.

Betel UK Director Sam Shirazi said:

“While the majority of the charity’s fund are generated through our own charitable businesses, we rely on donations from generous individuals and organisations to cover the remainder of our operating costs.

“We are currently in the process of restoring the building in the Burton-on-Trent area so it can enable us to help even more people, and this represents a significant investment.

“The fact we are now able to carpet the entire building through the donation made by Flooring Superstore is massive and means we can redirect the money we would have needed to pay for this, to other areas of the centre.

“We would like to thank Flooring Superstore for their kind support; it means a lot to us.”

Dean Stacey, Manager of the Flooring Superstore in Coventry which provided the flooring, said:

“We are approaching the second anniversary of opening in Coventry, and as a family-run business aware of our corporate social responsibility, we strive to support as many charities as we can.

“When Betel UK contacted us and shared their story, we were only too happy to help an independent charity like this which is doing so much good transforming the lives of people who have become socially excluded for a variety of reasons.

“We are looking forward to seeing the carpets in the new centre and hopefully they will help to bring a sense of home to people living there.”
