Restaurants across Bristol are joining Action Against Hunger’s Love Food Give Food Campaign. The premise of the campaign is simple: restaurants add an optional £1 to the bill or donate a percentage of the proceeds of a menu item. The money raised goes towards fighting hunger around the world.

The recent UN State of Food Security report has shown that global hunger levels have risen for a third consecutive year. Today, more than a quarter of the world’s population -2 billion people- don’t have enough food to eat. That is why, as the world leading charity in the fight against hunger, the organisation is hoping that this year will see a record number of restaurants joining the fight.

Amongst the Bristol restaurants signed up for the campaign are: Aluna Bristol, Box E, Eat Your Greens Bristol, No1 Harbour Side, Pho Bristol, Rosemarino, Temple Street Canteen, The Canteen Bristol, The Ethicurean, The Gallimaufry, The Old Market Assembly, and Veeno Bristol.

Tessa Lidstone, owner of Box-E, said

"Through initiatives like Love Food Give Food, it’s amazing to see how everyone giving a little quickly adds up. The money raised by Love Food Give Food will have a real impact on children’s lives all over the world.

"Our customers enjoy contributing, and we’re proud to be part of the campaign for the third year running."

Matthew White, Director of Fundraising & Communications at Action Against Hunger, said

“It’s fantastic to have so many restaurants in Bristol joining this year’s campaign. Everybody who eats at a participating restaurant will be helping us provide life-saving nutrition for a child in need.

“Now, we just need the people of Bristol to come and support their local restaurants! Every £1 raised can provide a day’s worth of life-saving and nutritious food for a child in need. So not only will you be enjoying a good meal and supporting a local restaurant, you will also be helping to change the lives of thousands of children around the world.”

Action Against Hunger’s flagship Love Food Give Food campaign has been running for 10 years and, thanks to the generosity of the restaurant industry, has raised more than £3 million to date.
