Core3, a B Corp finance and accountancy recruitment firm based in Bristol, is celebrating after completing the national Three Peaks Challenge and raising over £3,500 to help disadvantaged young people into employment with mentorship support.

Completing the challenge in a swift 21.5 hours, the team, which included Core3 Founder Leo Hewett, team member Richard Bailey, and Poku Osei - CEO of Babbasa, climbed the largest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike), and Wales (Snowden), adding up to 42km of walking distance, and 9,843ft of ascent.

The team decided to complete the challenge to raise awareness of the inequality that exists in Bristol and will donate all funds raised to local social enterprise Babbasa, which works to level the playing field by supporting underrepresented 16-25's with mentorship and employment support. Founded in 2010 by Poku, the social enterprise has worked with over 2000 young people to date and aims to support one person from each inner-city household in Bristol to achieve a median salary by 2030, inspiring generations to come.

Founder Leo said

"what started as a jokey idea over lunch between myself and Poku suddenly escalated, so we said why not? To train, we started a ‘netwalking' group for local professionals to join us in our training, meet like-minded people, get fit, and get out in nature."

For the team, the highlights included running down Ben Nevis, watching the sun set over Scafell Pike, the sunrise over Snowden, and the comradery and company that got them through some tough moments. The fundraising goal is £5,000, and Core3 has already managed to raise over £3,500 – and counting! The link is still live if people would like to donate.
