Bevan Brittan’s Birmingham office has handed a timely festive £15,000 boost to local charity InUnity.

The donation is part of £60,000 in total that the national law firm has given to local charities supported by its four offices in the UK and the Birmingham office donation will go towards youth clubs and mentoring for families living in temporary accommodation.

Unfortunately, Covid-19 has caused a lot more families to become homeless, or fleeing their homes due to domestic violence, creating unprecedented demand for these services.

During the year, colleagues from Bevan Brittan’s Birmingham office have taken part in various fundraising activities for InUnity, including sweepstakes and bake off competitions.

Donations in other parts of the country will enable the charities to fund 7.5 complete air ambulance missions in the South West, give disadvantaged teenagers fully funded work experience in London and fund six full days of cancer support in a regional care centre.

Commenting on the donations, Bevan Brittan’s Head of Birmingham Office, Adrian Dagnall, said:

“2021 has been another very challenging year for the charity and third sector so we are thrilled to be able to offer some extra support to InUnity at what is always a busy time for their team and the people they care for.

“As a responsible business, we are proud of the active role our colleagues play in supporting local communities, not to mention the range of pro bono work we do during the year.

“It is great to know that our donation will secure support for so many disadvantaged young people in the Midlands and we look forward to maintaining our support for these worthy causes in 2022.”

InUnity’s Founder and CEO, Hannah Brooman, said:

“InUnity are extremely grateful for Bevan Brittan’s very generous donation this Christmas. It’s going to make a huge impact on helping children and young people living in Birmingham. Being a small charity, we can assure you that every penny will be spent on supporting our beneficiaries! The funds will go towards the youth clubs and mentoring that we provide to families living in temporary accommodation.

“Unfortunately, Covid-19 has caused a lot more families to become homeless, or fleeing their homes due to Domestic Violence. InUnity support these children and young people by providing some much needed respite from the four small walls they now live in. These funds will guarantee that we can continue with that support – with more activities, mentoring and advice. Thank you so much.”

Bevan Brittan, which recently revealed that it had achieved carbon neutral status and outlined plans to cut emissions further, also confirmed plans to send clients eCards in place of physical Christmas cards this year, saving 66kg of paper.
