  • Six weeks ago, seven apprentices at online electricals retailer, AO, began their part in a fundraising competition against a group of local businesses for Bolton Lads and Girls Club and raised £4,620 for the charity who support young people in the area.

This year’s competition saw the group of AO apprentices host several exciting events over November and December at their head office in Bolton to raise as much money as possible for the charity. Fundraising activities included a bake sale, a raffle, a FIFA tournament and wearing black on Black Friday.

The AO apprentices have been hard at work fundraising and managed to raise a staggering £4,620 for the Bolton-based youth club which is double the total raised last year.

John Roberts, AO’s Founder and CEO commented:

“We’ve been involved with Bolton Lads and Girls Club for over 20 years and it’s great to see AO’ers still coming together to help raise money and support the fantastic work that the charity does. I’m really proud of the way these seven apprentices have demonstrated true AO spirit in their approach to this challenge having gone over and above to help the charity.”

Bolton Lads and Girls Club is one of the largest youth clubs in the country, with 3,500 plus members. The Club aims to help young people become the happy, caring and responsible citizens of tomorrow by providing somewhere to go as a safe haven to spend their free time.
