Transitioning to zero emission transport with Energy Saving Trust

Transport in the UK is moving towards vehicle electrification. The zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate will require every new car and van sold to be electric by 2035. This means that every organisation will need to think about what their route to electric and decarbonisation looks like.

Every fleet's journey will be different, and the options can be a bit overwhelming.

Electric vehicles can be incredibly versatile and used for many purposes. If you can find a financial route and make a good business case to switch to electric sooner, you'll be reaping the benefits. Making the switch to electric will get you substantial carbon savings, cheaper running costs, noticeably lower maintenance costs and free access to clean air zones (CAZ) or low emission zones (LEZ).

There are now more options for electric vans and trucks than ever before. There's a complete set of shapes and sizes for electric vehicles across the industry. Some of these include the Iveco eDaily, Renault Kangoo E-Tech, Vauxhall Combo-e, Peugeot e-Expert, Vauxhall Vivaro-e, Ford E-Transit, Renault Master E-Tech, Mercedes eSprinter and more.

With the complexities of load and varying routes, it can still be challenging to work out how to make the transition, especially on busier vehicles which have the most impact on emissions, running costs and charging. You'll also need to consider everything that comes with it, including fleet management and chargepoints.

In Energy Saving Trust's upcoming webinar on 6 February 2023, you can see what you'll need to do and the best ways to go about your fleet's journey to decarbonisation. Register for a free place here:. https://energysavingtrust.org.uk/event/how-to-decarbonise-your-transport-fleet/
