Vehicle management business Total Motion has moved its support for the armed forces community up a gear by becoming the first fleet management company to officially sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

Offering support to armed forces

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families are treated fairly.

By signing this agreement, Total Motion becomes the first Fleet Management company to join the growing list of organisations offering their support.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Parker, of 7th Infantry Brigade, signed the Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, alongside Simon at the signing ceremony at Total Motion’s Leicester-based head office.

Transferrable skills

Since Simon founded the company in 1998, Midlands-based Total Motion has expanded rapidly, doubling in size in the last six months to 96 employees.

Simon Hill, Managing Director of Total Motion, said:

“As our business continues to grow we’re delighted to be able to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and strengthen our support for current and former Service personnel and their families.

“The levels of training provided by the military are incredibly high and it’s been amazing to see just how far those skills transfer into the business environment.

“Signing the Covenant confirms our pledge to back service personnel, whether they are our employees or our clients.”

Thriving business

John Wilson, the Ministry of Defence’s regional employer engagement director for the East Midlands, said:

“It’s great that a thriving business such as Total Motion has signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

“It shows that the company understands how broad a skill set service personnel develop through their military training and the many benefits that can provide to employers.

“Strengthening its relationship with the Armed Forces community is likely to help Total Motion grow further in the future.”
