SIXT, Europe’s leading mobility provider, has created an airborne, Mission Impossible style installation, which incorporates an impressive life-size model car, at world renowned Manchester Airport.

The permanent advertising display has been hung from the striking rotunda in Terminal One’s departure lounge. The jaw dropping scene depicts four lifesize 3D printed puppets who appear poised to winch themselves down ropes and get their hands on the crown jewel, which in this case is SIXT’s 162kg full size replica of a Mercedes-Benz A-class car.

The rebuilt aluminum Mercedes incorporates 3D printed wheels and other original elements, such as the car brand’s iconic three-pronged star badge.

The installation’s props are supported by messaging which aims to target the 11 million passengers who pass through Terminal One each year and subsequently encourage them to rent a Mercedes-Benz for as little as £22 a day with the wording: “It’s a deal. It’s a steal!”

Managing Director of SIXT UK, Per Vögerl, said:

“At SIXT we stand for creative and exceptional airport advertising. We try to stick in people’s minds by advertising at extraordinary locations at airports. We chose Manchester for our latest permanent installation because it’s a vibrant and cosmopolitan city which is full of cultural, social and economic potential.”

The advert, in its entirety, also features an eye catching, rippling branded wall which is a staggering 42 meters wide and almost five meters high. On the wall there are four additional 3D printed puppets who also aim to ‘get their hands on the car by making their way through an assortment of striking laser beams, in order to reach the prized car.

A dedicated team of six people worked for five nights to install the advertisement. Their progress was captured in a video containing exciting behind-the-scenes footage.

The idea for the display came from creative agency Jung von Matt/SPREE who have been SIXT lead agency for many years.
