Nationwide Fleet Installations has acquired Avian Fleet, doubling its engineering coverage across the UK, and reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable and efficient installation services.

Since 1987, the team at Avian have been at the forefront of installing cutting-edge vehicle technologies. This significant acquisition unites two of the UK's largest independent installers at a time when the fleet industry is increasingly seeking technological solutions to enhance safety, efficiency, and, more importantly, sustainability.

Recent reports from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) indicate a significant shortage of electric vehicle technicians as many fleets embark on their fleet electrification journey. With the continued rollout of EVs, there is an increasing demand for skilled technicians.

The expansion will allow Nationwide Fleet Installations to increase the number of technicians receiving EV training and provide support in integrating vehicle technology into EVs. All members of the current workforce possess IMI Level 2 qualification in Electric Vehicle safe working, Tools and hazard Management at minimum, with half attaining Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement. This acquisition aims to bridge the EV technician skills gap in anticipation of the 2035 ban on the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles.
