B2B content marketing agency, Hattrick, has taken home the first ever Agency Sustainability Award at the inaugural Good Agency Awards for its dedication and action in tackling the climate challenge.

Launched by Agency Hackers at the Good Agencies Summit 2023 in London, the awards are the first of its kind to celebrate agencies that are a force for good and focus on balancing purpose with profit.

Described as the "small but mighty B2B marketing agency", the judges commented on Hattrick's strong sustainability ethos and focus on educating not only themselves, but clients and peers on the impacts of climate change. This includes launching their own accredited carbon literacy training course.

The agency embarked on a new vision to balance business profit with the needs of people and the planet in 2021, led by Swedish-born managing director Malin Cunningham. A bold, and challenging move which has seen the business become the first female-owned agency in Manchester to be certified B-Corp earlier this year.

The Hattrick team is now fully ‘carbon literate' with its own ‘Net Zero Masterclass' for sales and marketing professionals. The agency has successfully trained just short of 200 individuals across 100 organisations (including The UK Green Building Council & Earthshot Prize finalists, Low Carbon Materials) to date as well as regularly delivering free ‘Greenwashing' webinars and launching a ‘how to' guide.

Malin says:

"We are honoured to have been crowned the first winners of the Agency Sustainability Award and very excited about being able to use our marketing skills ‘for good'. It's been a rewarding and - at times - challenging journey. Making the commitment to a ‘triple bottom line' is relatively easy, but delivering on that day-to-day is a real, yet rewarding, challenge.

"I'm very proud of how far we've come and it's great to see the momentum for better transparency around ‘green' marketing grow. And naturally, that applies to us too and we will report on how we are progressing against our own targets in early 2024."

As part of its ongoing commitment to educating and empowering sales and marketing teams, the agency is teaming up with Pro-Manchester to take part in the annual ‘Carbon Literacy Action Day (CLAD)'. This is the world's largest global training initiative, which takes place on Monday 4th December to coincide with UN COP28 in Dubai.

Hattrick and Pro-Manchester will run an exclusive ‘Net Zero Masterclass' for the Greater Manchester business community, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of climate change and the difference they can make in their professional spheres of influence.
