Energy Capital, the smart energy innovation partnership for the West Midlands, is launching a major report to benefit the energy industry and urge those working in the sector to secure their place at the major Birmingham event. The ‘Powering West Midlands Growth: A Regional Approach to Clean Energy Innovation’ report will detail the existing challenges, provide evidence-based recommendations and outline the opportunities available across the industry to innovators.
The event, taking place on the afternoon of 28th March 2018 at the University of Birmingham, will be chaired by Sir David King, who previously was the government’s permanent Special Representative for Climate Change and the Chief Scientific Advisor. Sir David King is the Chair of the Regional Energy Policy Commission, which is made up of a panel of experts from industry, government, academia and policy, who are the authors of the report. The commission have been working collaboratively to identify ways to boost regional competitiveness through the creation of an innovative regional energy market framework.
During the event, delegates will also learn about the Regional Energy Strategy - a document that will set out how the West Midlands will rise to the challenge of achieving an effective transition to a modern, clean energy system. The Regional Energy Strategy will support the national industrial strategy and once again lead the way in efficient use of energy to deliver better economic and environmental outcomes for everyone.
