A Bristol business has celebrated over 10 years of service with leading artificial turf supplier LazyLawn®.
Comprising a team of four, LazyLawn® Bristol marked its tenth anniversary by completing approximately 230 installations during 2018.
John Garrett, local Licensee for LazyLawn® Bristol, has spent more than a decade installing artificial grass and offering guidance to customers.
A native of Bristol, John, 50, works alongside his wife, Lesley, 49, who oversees the day-to-day running of the office and acts as the first point of contact for potential customers.
Celebrating their silver wedding anniversary this year, the couple have two sons, Civil Engineer Will, 21, and graphic design student Luke, 20, both of whom have helped support the family business over the years.
Having joined LazyLawn® in April 2008, John remains the longest-serving of the company’s licensees, trading as Garretts Gardens Ltd.
It was shortly after graduating from college in the early 1990s that he decided to set up his own company.
“When I was first starting out, artificial grass was very much still in its infancy,”
he explains,
“but because customers were beginning to ask about it, I decided to investigate which companies supplied it.”
After doing his research over the internet, John discovered LazyLawn® and was introduced to its founder, Jim Footitt.
“Among the many things that I liked about the company were the fact that it was family-run, and that Jim was so hands-on with the business,
“John continues.
“I became the LazyLawn® licensee for Bristol and have not looked back to this day. The licensee base has grown quickly in such a short space of time, and now there are over 20 licensees across the country.
“We are ahead of the game with the quality and choice of grass that we offer, not to mention customer care, post-installation advice, and the incredible support that we receive from Head Office.”
When he’s not working, John likes spending quality time with his family, and particularly looks forward to cruising with them in the Mediterranean.
He also enjoys playing tennis, and has become good friends with Nigel Roper, LazyLawn® licensee for Taunton, with whom he participates in a European golf tour each year.
