With national concern increasing over the UK skills shortage, Gloucestershire Engineering Training (GET) continues to deliver what it has always done, cost effective work-based training for learners from member companies, a dual skill programme for employers needing multi-skilled staff and tailor-made training programmes and services.
GET is a registered charity but its structure remains the same as upon formation; the employers retaining ownership and strategic powers.
However, in the last four years the growth of both apprentice and employer numbers has boomed and, as a result, the business’ internal structure has changed substantially.
Part of that growth has been a direct result of an exciting 2012during which GET moved to new, larger premises and relaunched with a new name, brand and culture.
Now based in Corinium Avenue, Barnwood, its 22,000sq ft facility comprises workshop space and classrooms equipped with a variety of traditional machinery and the latest technology.
GET has gone on to expand the range of programmes it provides at a variety of levels and is planning to grow this further in the next few years.
“We currently offer Level 2 to Level 5, so the next step for us is to have degree level provision within our portfolio by 2017, if not before.” Explains CEO, Linsey.
Named Training Provider of the Year for the second year running at the Gloucestershire Media’s Apprenticeship Awards ceremony held in the summer, it’s clear that GET is delivering just what those sectors demand; creating a learning curve that shows no sign of stopping.
