Temperature Checking: It’s a hot topic: Jamie Callaghan

Industry leading office technology sales and service provider Midshire Telecom are pleased to announce they are now providing the business sector with Temperature Checking devices to aid the return to business.

Midshire Telecom introduces thermal imaging cameras for checking customers for COVID-19 symptoms before they enter the premises.

With the easing of lockdown by the government for many businesses to return has brought with it many challenges.

One main challenge is customer confidence when visiting your premises. Recently, it was reported that 70% of adults will only go shopping or visit the supermarket when absolutely necessary.

Improving Consumer Confidence & Workplace Safety

How can we instil confidence in the consumer?

One answer lies in the use of the latest thermal imaging cameras. By no means are they a silver bullet when detecting COVID-19, however they can go a long way towards helping identify its main symptom – fever and a high temperature.

Thermal imaging cameras are designed to detect and measure the thermal temperature emanating from a person, frequently referred to as a ‘heat signature’. The thermal cameras we recommend can measure body temperature as standard to within +/- 0.5 degrees. The cameras can also identify whether a person is wearing a mask or not and prompt the consumer to “Wear a face mask” if this is company policy.

A thermal camera is fitted with a specialist lens that enables infrared frequencies to pass through an object and can be viewed as multi coloured images dependent on the heat emitted. Within one second, they will rapidly identify anyone carrying a raised body temperature, prompting staff to implement wider safety protocols. This may be asking the person if they have any pre-existing medical conditions.

Anyone with an unexplained raised body temperature can be politely denied entry to the premises and advised to seek further medical advice.

The Cost of Workplace Safety

As we are in the midst of the biggest global crisis in our lifetimes, finance and accounts departments worldwide are sharpening their pencils when managing budgets to steer the ship through the crisis.

Midshire Telecoms range of thermal imaging cameras can be leased for as little as £80 a month, negating the need for a large capital outlay, putting less strain on the balance sheet.

With the need for businesses to return to the level of output they had before the crisis, consumer confidence is key. The last few months have placed added anxiety and stress to consumers. Will you have less visits to your premises? Probably. However, implementing safety protocols can go a long way towards reducing those anxieties.

Secondly, if thermal imaging cameras can aid the prevention of a member of your workforce catching the virus, it could prevent the spread amongst staff and the need to self-isolate for 14 days. Pair that with members of staff that will maybe take a chance “Maybe it’s just a cold” “I can’t afford to be off sick”. This could lead to major disruptions to your operations.

Jamie Callaghan (Marketing Manager)

“As the easing of lockdown gathers momentum, businesses are looking to install thermal imaging cameras to flag the potential risks of the coronavirus’ spread. Anxiety amongst businesses staff and consumers is high, so it is more paramount than ever to instil confidence by adopting these measures as well as keeping your business operational at this time.”
