Harrogate based company Techbuyer has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for International Trade.

Techbuyer is one of 220 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Announced today (Tuesday 21 April), Techbuyer has been acknowledged for its excellence in International trade.

Techbuyer is a global specialist in the buying, refurbishment and selling of enterprise IT hardware, predominantly servers, storage and networking for the data centre environment. Headquartered in Harrogate, the company started trading in 2005 and has grown from a local company to a global concern employing over 170 people, with two facilities in the USA, and one in Australia, New Zealand, France and Germany.

“I am really proud of the way that so many people, in so many teams, departments and countries work cleverly and creatively to achieve extremely strong results for the business. It is thanks to their collective hard work over the years that we have won this award: it takes a lot of collaboration from ambitious individuals and teams to successfully buy and sell internationally! We currently trade with over 100 countries and will continue to invest and expand our teams in order to provide quality refurbished equipment around the globe,”

said Kevin Towers, founder and owner of Techbuyer.

Managing Director Mick Payne said,

“This award is great recognition for the employees of the business. I have never worked anywhere, or know of anywhere, where so many people care so much about the outcomes. Recently, as we find ourselves in absolutely extraordinary times, this has become even clearer. Over the years, the business has given a lot of young, unproven people the opportunity to create themselves a bigger purpose and have a great career making a part of the business their own – this is a very rewarding process, one that Kevin created a long time ago for everyone. The business is now in a position which further enables our reach to create more success stories, whether in business or community support, now locally and globally. Being able to do this and be recognised for the international trade we have achieved over the years is fantastic.”

Now in its 54th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country, with winning businesses able to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.

After attending the Palace reception the company will celebrate the award with an international-themed party, timed so that all colleagues around the world can take part, later in the year!
