Still Moving Media LLP (StillMoving), a Cheltenham-based photographic and film agency, are spending £1.2m on a new-build studio in Bishops Cleeve.

The 11-strong team will move from their central Cheltenham studio, where they have been based since 2016, into a 5,000 sqft building on the Cleeve Business Park next month.

The building is being kitted out with the latest high-tech equipment including a permanent, drive-in, infinity curve studio, two grading suites, editing pods, creative planning rooms and an office for 25 employees, to allow for future growth.

Chief Creative Officer, Spencer McPherson, who founded the company in 2011 and now runs it alongside Creative Director Dale Campbell, says the new build will enable them to work with brands and agencies on a national level.

He says,

‘We have always invested heavily back into the business, in our equipment and our team, making sure we always have the right piece of kit for every shoot so a client knows we can deliver exactly the shot they need, whatever the brief and this new building is just an extension of that policy. With this investment, we want to ensure that we are bringing national brands and advertising agencies, into our state-of-the-art studios right here in Gloucestershire.’

Whilst StillMoving built their core business working with local Gloucestershire organisations such as Gloucester Quays and Cheltenham Festivals, their meteoric rise to success has seen them work recently with internationally recognised brands such as Aston Martin, Disney and Rimmel London.

Dale explained,

‘We are frequently recommended to clients based of the quality of the work we deliver – something we are very proud of. In 2020, clients want high-production content that stands out and is highly original, something our team excel at. We have some of the best equipment available with equipment manufacturers like Manfrotto frequently asking us to trial their products for them. We are very proud to have carved out the reputation we have in such a relatively short period of time and are very excited about the future and where it will take us.’

In the fast-moving digital world, Dale says when shooting an advert, a client needs to be able to cut it ‘twenty different ways’ to use across multiple social media channels, something their team are experts at. 2019 also saw them filming television adverts for fashion brand Jack1t, launched by Superdry co-founder James Holder and Gloucester Quays’ Christmas Campaign.

CCO Spencer McPherson stresses that he is keen to keep employing local people as the business grows,

‘Dale and I are both Gloucestershire born and bred, raising our families here and we’re proud to have employed many staff from Gloucestershire University and Gloucestershire College over the years. We may be growing at a phenomenal rate, but we will always stay true to our Gloucestershire roots and look forward to nurturing the next generation of film and photographic talent as we go. At the moment it would appear that the sky is the limit for StillMoving but Cheltenham will always be home.’
