Robert Unwin, owner of artisan Cumbrian butcher’s shop, Roast Mutton, in Kendal’s Woolpack Yard, launched his virtual shop on 14th January to meet demand from visitors to the town who have become loyal customers from across the UK.
As many of Robert’s customers know he is passionate about provenance, which is why he sources his meat directly from Cumbrian farmers who align with his passion and ethos. It’s hugely important to Robert to know exactly where his produce comes from and who has been involved in every aspect along the way to ensure his customers get their hands on the freshest produce possible.
These are things that have resonated with the hundreds of customers he has served since he established his shop in July 2021, which is why many of Robert’s customers from outside Cumbria have encouraged him to open an online store.
Now, with a well-designed and easy to navigate online shop in operation, the Kendal butchery is looking forward to dealing with customers from further afield who want quality meat delivered directly to their door as well as from local customers who just want the convenience of the butchery click and collect service from the shop.
As the virtual shop develops it will sell everything from whole Herdwick lambs, to chickens, grass fed beef, chops and steaks, as well as bacon, burgers, artisan sausages, pantry items and locally produced beers as well as a selection of organic and biodynamic wines.
Now all customers have to do access quality Roast Mutton produce is visit the website, place their order, schedule a call with Robert to discuss the cuts they require, and the team will do the rest to make sure their orders are delivered direct to their homes, all contained in a specially created fully recyclable chiller box, which will keep their produce in tip top condition for up to 72 hours.
Robert commented:
"I’d always intended to develop a virtual shop in the fullness of time but with the demand we experienced over Christmas we decided to bring those plans forward and launch much sooner than. The shop will sell many of the products we sell in the shop already and a few more besides, specifically products that align with our ethos, made by passionate artisan producers and farmers. This means that I will be able to ensure the same high standards we have in the shop are available to our online customers, so no matter where people are in the UK, will be able to get their hands on highly quality Cumbrian reared meats from our trusted artisan producers and farmers."
Roast Mutton is open Tuesday to Saturday, between 09.00am to 5.30pm.
Orders can be placed for delivery on a Saturday or customers can click and then collect directly from the Kendal shop.
