The business has created thousands of homes as well as workspaces for hundreds of companies incubating tens of thousands of jobs across the country over the past 26 years, it has now been invited to join the Government-led network which is made up of leading businesses, civic bodies and charities from throughout the North of England.

The aim of the Northern Powerhouse Partner Programme is to boost the regional economy, by providing the infrastructure to support continued growth and increase investment.

Minister for the Northern Powerhouse, the Rt. Hon. Jake Berry, MP said:

“As a fantastic example of a business with a national presence based in the heart of the North, I am delighted to welcome Urban Splash to the Northern Powerhouse Partner Programme.

“Their work in creating thousands of homes, workspaces and green spaces across the Northern Powerhouse and beyond builds on our investment of £663.4 million from the Local Growth Fund into the wider Greater Manchester region. We’re levelling up this key Northern Powerhouse region as we prepare to leave the EU on October 31st.”

Added Urban Splash Chairman and co-founder Tom Bloxham MBE:

“We are a proudly northern business and have always been a passionate advocate for the role of our great cities in the economic prosperity of the UK as a whole.

“Our work regenerating major strategic sites such as New Islington in Manchester, Wirral Waters in Merseyside, Park Hill in Sheffield and Smith’s Dock in North Shields is transforming once deprived and neglected urban areas across the North of England into thriving destinations where people love to live, work and play. Additionally, the creation of these large scale developments have provided continuous employment for local people, from apprentice tradespeople to senior director roles.

“Through our work we have been fortunate to work with communities in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, North Shields and more, communities who are committed to building on the region’s international reputation to attract more people and businesses, therefore securing a sustainable future.

“In addition, my past roles as founding chair of Centre for cities, chair of North West Arts, Chancellor of Manchester University and Trustee of Tate – as well as my current role as Chair of MIF and Urban Splash – I have seen first hand how a joined up regional policy and a proper voice for the North can make a real difference to the prosperity and quality of life for all its citizens.

“I am delighted that Urban Splash can play its part as a Northern Powerhouse Partner”
