Homebuyers Seeking Greener Grass On Next Move In The West Midlands

Due to the links between greater mental health and increased property values, open space continues to be a top priority for homebuyers in the West Midlands.

It’s been reported by Public Health England that greener environments are associated with better mental health and wellbeing outcomes including reduced levels of depression, anxiety and fatigue, and enhanced quality of life for both children and adults.

For the benefit of those in the property market, the access to open space can also increase the value of a property. U Switch noted the key areas in the UK where being a five-minute walk from a park can raise house prices – which appears to be a national trend.

Although this trend isn’t followed in coastal locations, it’s still clear to see the importance of being closer to greener environments.

A survey conducted by Barratt Homes* revealed that 83% of homeowners in the West Midlandsnoted being close to open space was important to them.

The leading developer strives to create open spaces on its developments across the county to provide residents with an area to make the most of the great outdoors.

Tanya Silk, Sales Director at Barratt Homes West Midlands, said:

“Open space was always a top priority but since the pandemic is almost become a necessity.

“Not only are greener environments more beneficial for our mental health, they can prove to be valuable for those purchasing a home as an investment as it can help to maintain or increase the value of a property.

“We handpick the locations of our developments to ensure residents have access to nearby parks and woodlands, whilst also creating new open spaces ourselves.”

Barratt Homes West Midlands currently has a variety of properties available in the West Midlands at the following developments: Berrington Place in Birmingham and The Elms in Hall Green.
