Helm Construction are back on site in the familiar surroundings of Peache Road in Downend.

The fast-growing firm is currently working on its third major project in the road on behalf of Westbury Guild, this time building one detached and two semi-detached houses.

Contract Manager Kim Richings said:

“We built four homes on an overgrown site in Peache Road the year before last. All were snapped up. We also completed two new homes just across the road in Buckingham Gardens and a further four at the old Post Office in Mangotsfield.

“We were getting inquiries from neighbours before we had even finished the original project. The fact all the previous properties sold within days demonstrates the strength of demand.”

A particular challenge was with the site being within close proximity to the neighbouring properties and gardens.

“Additionally, the plots are situated on the main road so site security was very important to protect pedestrians and passersby as well as ensuring unauthorised persons could not get into site during closed hours.

“We believe it is important to build relationships and communicate well with the neighbours at all times due to the nature of the site being very close to the existing buildings.

“We had a fantastic response to our previous projects and have now been called back once again for this infill development. With so many people desperate to get a foot on the property ladder, it makes sense to look at wasted and unused space in our existing urban locations rather than dig up more of our open space.”
