The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire was named as Project of the Year at the RICS West Midlands Awards at Grand Station in Wolverhampton.

The ceremony celebrated the most impressive and community beneficial property schemes, with the Conservatoire also taking home the Design through Innovation award.

Project of the Year accolade is presented to the scheme which demonstrates overall outstanding best practice and an exemplary commitment to adding value to its local area.

Bennett Architectural worked alongside Galliford Try to design, supply and install Kawneer AA100 windows and AA720 curtain walling systems and achieve one of the highest levels of acoustic attentuation in the world.

Lionel Grant, Managing Director at Bennett Architectural commented,

“The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire was a technically challenging project for our team but it’s extremely pleasing to see it being recognised for its design which our team worked very hard to ensure it was of the highest quality.

“It has been nominated for a number of awards recently; which we feel is a testament to the work carried out by our team working alongside Galliford Try.”

Gurdip Chamba, Chair of the RICS Awards judging panel added,

“This grand project had stiff competition from other entries but in many ways stood ‘head and shoulders’ above other entries and has also received the Royal seal of approval.”

It will now be shortlisted for the RICS Grand Final, held on 2nd November in London, where it could be crowned national Project of the Year.
