The fast-growing Birmingham-based company Colmore Tang Construction, responsible for many of the most recently completed apartment developments around the Midlands and the North West, is to develop two new divisions to the business that will become part of the Colmore Tang Construction Group of companies.

Specialist Construction Services

The two new divisions - Housebuilding and Office Fit Out and Interiors – will join Colmore Tang Construction to offer specialist services throughout the UK.

Originally launched in 2014 for a one-off build of the 253-bed Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham, Colmore Tang has gone on to complete more than 1,000 residential units.

A further 3,000 are in the pipeline, with committed projects in a mix of new-build and office-to-residential change of use.

Huge growth and success

The company has grown from zero to a projected £100m annual turnover in four years, already transforming 15 disused office blocks and brownfield sites, breathing new life and opportunity into unloved parts of Birmingham, Worcester, Liverpool and Basingstoke.

Andy Robinson, who was managing director of Colmore Tang Construction at its launch, has been appointed as CEO of the combined businesses. He said:

“Three years of rapid growth, building a team and delivering quality projects has helped us to identify some transferable skill sets that can be used to fill gaps in the market, where competitors either lack capacity or have a reluctance to deal with project sizes that would be ideal for us.

“The new companies, the new group, and my role as CEO have been created to make sure that we are able to concentrate on each specialism without detracting from the success we have built so far within the construction business.

“We have a very healthy pipeline of projects and with the team, skills and network of loyal local subcontractors and suppliers we have built up over the last three years, now is the right time to diversify and take advantage of the opportunities that there are within the market.

“Neil Walters will continue with his excellent work as Managing Director at Colmore Tang Construction, with senior appointments in the new businesses still to be announced.

“A number of new roles will be created and we expect to be recruiting key people in the very near future, including design specialists, project managers, quantity surveyors, commercial managers, contract managers, site and support staff, in the coming months.”

Neil Martin, Finance Director at Colmore Tang Construction, will now take the role of Group CFO, working with Andy Robinson across the group of companies.

Award-Winning Company

In its first four years Colmore Tang Construction has won six awards, including the prestigious On the Tools Contractor of the Year and West Midlands Business Masters fastest growing business of the year. This year the company is nominated in the Construction Enquirer Awards.

Current projects under construction include office-to-residential and new-build residentialdevelopments in Basingstoke, Slough and Birmingham, with distribution warehousing units in Northamptonshire as well as two new sites for major food retailers.
