• Shredall SDS Group and Detpak have officially rolled out the new Detpak RecycleMe system, a ground-breaking recycling collection service helping UK businesses invest in recyclable coffee cups. The system closes the loop for the industry and guarantees collected paper cups will be counted and recycled into high-quality paper products rather than contributing to the 2.5 billion cups thrown away in landfills every year.

Shredall SDS Group, the largest independently owned Confidential Waste Shredding and Paper Recycling company in the UK, today announced that it is now serving clients as part of its partnership with recyclable coffee cup producer Detpak.

Coffee cups across the UK are being saved from landfill and commercially recycled into paper, with the introduction of Detpak’s RecycleMe™ system, which was first launched in September 2018.

The takeaway coffee cups have been designed using EarthCoating® technology, a highly mineralized resin which is designed to aid the detachment of paper and inner lining during the pulping process. This in turn significantly increases the ease of recycling and quality of the end product.

Nottingham-based Shredall SDS Group is now working with hospitals, coffee chains, banks and building societies across the country to collect, sort and recycle the cups at their recycling processing facilities.

Nik Williams, managing director at Shredall SDS Group, believed the synergies between the two companies will lead to a successful relationship.

The new deal comes at a time of impressive growth for the company, with the Nottingham storage depot recently being re-racked to make space for 250,000 more boxes and the business projecting an increase of 20% turnover during 2019/2020. Shredall SDS Group has also furthered its commitment to sustainability by investing over £300,000 in two new conveyors and balers for larger paper processing capabilities, allowing it to reduce its carbon footprint through more efficient energy use.
