Sarah Moorhouse, Operations and Marketing Director at BCRS Business Loans and Black Country Chamber Board Member, has been announced Chair of the Chamber’s latest initiative, Black Country Women in Business and Leadership Forum.

Sarah, a member of the Black Country Women in Business and Leadership Steering Group, has stepped forward to lead the forum which was launched in March to help celebrate women across the region as well as inspire and support the next generation of female leaders.

In her role as Chair she will oversee the aims of the forum and ensure it acts in accordance with the objectives set out by the forum’s steering group.

Sarah said:

“For as long as I can remember I, along with my male and female colleagues alike, have been pushing for greater representation in business and providing young women with the role models that inspire them and their career choices. Huge progress has already been made but we must be even more ambitious.

“The expertise and passion of all the people involved in this steering group leave me with no doubt that we will continue to see a genuine culture change at the heart of Black Country business. This isn’t just important for women - it’s critical for our economy – and it’s going to be exciting to see greater representation from the classroom to the boardroom in the future.”

Sarah, an Executive Director and member of the Senior Leadership Team at BCRS Business Loans in Wolverhampton, oversees the development, implementation and delivery of the strategic direction of the BCRS organisation.

With a passion for business she joined the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Board in 2018 and believes the Chamber has a long, proud history of campaigning for the issues of local businesses and bringing the members together to show the power of the Black Country economy.

The Black Country Women in Business and Leadership forum will provide a platform to collaborate, network and share experiences whilst inspiring future business women, whilst helping to make the Black Country a fair and inclusive place to work for the next generation of talented women.

It will also look at policy issues surrounding women in the workplace, lobby for a more diverse business arena and highlight the gender pay gap.

Black Country Women in Business and Leadership have organised their first event to fall within the Black Country Business Festival, they are encouraging business women from across the region to join them to be at the beginning of this exciting new forum.

‘They Said She Couldn’t – So She Did’ will take place on Friday 17th May at the Mount Hotel and Country Manor from 9.30am and will include a host of inspirational business women and female role models.
