RRL, a leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Tax Advisers based in Cornwall, is celebrating a double nomination for their team members in the CCB Excellence in Business Training Awards 2019.

Apprentice accountant Charlie Penhaligon, who has been training with the firm since 2016, has been shortlisted for the Professional Apprentice of the Year award, while Practice Director Michelle Pearce has been shortlisted for the Individual Champion to Staff Development award.

Charlie was delighted to find out he had been shortlisted as a finalist, saying:

“I’m overjoyed to have been nominated for an Excellence in Business Training Award; it came as a complete surprise. Everyone at RRL has been so supportive since I started my apprenticeship, and have provided me with so many opportunities to develop my skills as an accountant and in general, which has given me a great start to my career.”

Michelle:

“I’m absolutely thrilled to have been selected as a finalist for the Individual Champion to Staff Development award. Watching our apprentices and trainees develop and take on important roles in the firm while also supporting the teams through the challenges of change has been so rewarding. It is fantastic to receive recognition for this.”

RRL Partner Nick Skerratt was delighted with the firm’s nomination, saying,

“We have put a lot of focus over the last few years on investing in the development of our staff and fostering a culture in which people feel valued. It is fantastic to see Charlie’s progress and hard work as an apprentice being recognised, as well as the work that Michelle has put into championing staff development and building up our apprenticeship and training programmes.”

The winners of this year’s Excellence in Business Training Awards are to be announced on Thursday 18 July, at the Cornish Tipi Weddings, near St Kew.
