Organisations in the West of England have just a few weeks remaining to comment on a draft strategy for the region.

Focused on Economic Growth

Launched on Wednesday July 26, by West of England Mayor Tim Bowles and Interim Chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership, Professor Steve West, the vision for the region is focused on economic growth to benefit every resident.

During the summer individuals and organisations have been able to make comments online and take part in drop-in sessions across the region.

The closing date for comments is midnight on Wednesday September 27.

The strategy is the result of discussion with businesses, council partners, universities and colleges, and housing and transport providers.

It is geared towards promoting more job opportunities, a stronger economy and a higher quality of life for residents.

The West of England’s economy, boasting a population of over 1 million people and over 43,000 businesses, is presently worth £31 billion a year.

Its growth has surpassed the national average over the past 15 years.

Draft Strategy available for review

The draft strategy is available on the West of England Combined Authority website –www.westofengland-ca.org.uk/WEstrategy/ – where there is also an online questionnaire to provide feedback.

Two remaining sessions for one-to-one discussions about the strategy take place as follows:

  • Monday September 18, 10am -12 noon at Filwood Green Business Park, Bristol

  • Monday September 25, 10am -12 noon at The Guildhall, Bath

  • Tuesday September 26, 2-4pm, Bristol & Bath Science Park
