Lincoln-based digital marketing agency, Distract has added to its portfolio of services by welcoming Mike Shields as Head of PR.

Mike, who has more than ten years’ experience in journalism, communications and within agencies, will be offering both traditional and digital PR services to clients to complement their existing digital marketing campaigns.

Managing Director at Distract, Peter Watson, said:

“We are starting 2019 with a really valuable addition to our services as an agency. Mike brings experience and contacts with him that our clients will find invaluable. PR is an incredibly useful tool within marketing and we know our clients will want to make use of this service straight away.”

The agency, which was founded in 2015, has now grown to 14 members of staff and already offers digital advertising, search advertising and web development. Its capabilities recently grew with the appointment of SEO and search specialists, as well as a videographer.

Peter continued:

“This year looks set to be our biggest yet and we’re excited to see where our new services will lead us.

“We believe in surrounding ourselves with experts so that we know each team knows exactly where to take clients on their marketing journey. Adding PR was an easy choice, Mike will now be able to tell clients’ stories effectively and to their advantage. His experience in the business press and with PR clients on a national and international level will mean clients will be in good hands.”

Mike said:

“I’m thrilled to be joining Distract at such a busy time. The scope of the projects the agency takes on and the potential for PR to be part of this is phenomenal. There’s a very real change happening in public relations at the moment, gone are the days of simply sending out a press release and hoping for the best.

“Producing relevant, useful content, engaging in effective media relations and writing for ever-narrowing niche audiences is what we will be focusing on.”
