Innovative metrology experts, InspecVision, has been awarded the UK’s highest accolade for business success, a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Based in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland, the company has been recognised for it’s excellence in international trade, achieving overseas sales growth of 129% over the last three years. It’s main markets are the United States, China and Europe.

The company develops and manufactures 2D and 3D measurement systems for inspection of manufactured components. Their core market is the sheet metal industry with customers producing components for a wide range of applications including the automotive and aerospace sectors.

Established in 2005 by Dr. Jan Antonis and his father Mike Antonis. Jan had completed a PhD in computer vision at Queens University Belfast and Mike had been CEO of Ireland’s largest sheet metal OEM manufacturer. They identified a gap in the market for high speed, easy-to-use, lower cost inspection machines and developed and launched the Planar, the world’s fastest measurement system for 2D parts. Today the product range is sold in over 30 countries and has expanded to include 3D inspection.

Dr. Jan Antonis, Managing Director said:

“I am very proud that InspecVision has achieved the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. This celebrates the dedication and commitment of our team and the immense contribution and support of our distribution partners which has enabled us to deliver world-class quality control solutions to manufacturers across the globe.”

The award comes as the company announces a new partnership with German-owned global corporation, TRUMPF. Recognised for quality, innovative solutions and highly efficient processes, TRUMPF is one of the world’s market and technology leaders in machine tools and lasers for industrial manufacturing.

InspecVision demo systems are installed at TRUMPF smart factories in Ditzingen and Chicago as well as their UK showroom in Luton. The TRUMPF smart factory demonstrates how a fully connected manufacturing environment boosts the efficiency of sheet metal fabrication by reducing scrap rates and processing time.

For the customer, the InspecVision system represents a future-proof measuring system that will be integrated into the TRUMPF smart factory. Dennis Specht, Product Manager TRUConnect commented:

“The InspecVision product perfectly compliments our portfolio”.

Dr. Jan Antonis, Managing Director, InspecVision said:

“We develop and deliver technology solutions that improve quality control, increase efficiency in production and reduce waste. The sheet metal fabrication industry has always been at the core of our business. We are joining forces with TRUMPF to bring efficient and connected sheet metal quality control to the portfolio of solutions provided by the Smart Factory”.

InspecVision’s innovative approach and levels of record growth has also resulted in the company being awarded High Growth Business of the Year for the Northern Ireland region in the Federation of Small Businesses annual awards. They will represent Northern Ireland in this category at the FSB UK Final in May 2021.
