After a triumphant year, Whistle Punks, Birmingham’s first ever axe throwing venue has announced the expansion of a fifth lane due to an accelerating high demand since opening two years ago. Located at Grange Live Gaming – a stone’s, or axe, throw away from New Street Station, Whistle Punks is bringing axe throwing to the masses as it continues to roll out across the UK.

Designed as an unforgettable experience to bring friends, peers and strangers together in city spaces by form of competitive socialising, Whistle Punks is set to meet Birmingham’s popular demand by bringing in an additional lane to its previous 40-capacity venue. By doing so, it will have the facility to supply a larger offering to the people of the city, opening the space up for an additional 10 people party, increasing its capacity to 50 people.

Whistle Punks’ journey began in 2016, when two long-time friends John Nimmons and Jools Whitehorn, came together with passion to create an experience with an edge. It reigns as the first brand to bring axe throwing as a competitive social activity to the UK high street. Current locations include London, Bristol, Birmingham and Manchester, with a second London site to open this summer. Rubbing shoulders with a hot commodity of venues over the city, Whistle Punks is consistently showing why it deserves a spot right here in Birmingham.

Jools Whitehorn, co-founder of Whistle Punks, comments:

“Bringing axe throwing to the bustling scene of Birmingham was always something on our bucket list. Whistle Punks promote an antidote to the isolation of our modern lives; it breaks down barriers to create an engaging social environment in the real world as well as providing the kind of experience that people can’t wait to snap a picture, share online, and spread the word about.”

Commenting on the instructors, Jools adds

“The special atmosphere at our venues is centred around the work of our instructors who are on hand every step on the way to ensure everyone is safe but having fun while doing so.”

He continues

“We strive to continue the progression Whistle Punks has seen over the last three years and focus on the journey of making axe throwing accessible to everyone. The expansion at our existing venues is a sure sign that things are heading in the right direction, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.”

Axe throwing sessions are 70 minutes long and take place on a lane consisting of two targets, making it the ideal match to bring someone along as you battle away for the Whistle Punks trophy. The experiences on offer range from Social Lane Single Tickets, right through to all singing and dancing High Flyer Packages for large parties. The venue can also be hired in its entirety for parties of up to 50 people, giving players the run of the place and the opportunity to fully personalise the event experience.
