Dartmoor Lodge Hotel named winner in the South West Wedding Awards
A Devon hotel that was recently named a winner in the South West Wedding Awards is on the market for £1.5million.
Dartmoor Lodge Hotel, on the outskirts of Ashburton between Exeter and Plymouth, won the title ‘Best Wedding Venue: Town’ for 2019 at the awards, which were held in January.
The hotel has a marriage and civil partnership licence, and offers weddings within the hotel and also marquee and garden weddings. In addition, it has facilities for hosting conferences and meetings, and a refurbished restaurant and adjoining bar with beams and a double-sided open log fire.
Ed Jefferson from the Hotels team at real estate advisors Colliers International, which is marketing the Dartmoor Lodge Hotel, said the combination of the recent award and a reduction in price was likely to generate interest from a range of potential purchasers.
“The Dartmoor Lodge Hotel’s success in the South West Wedding Awards underlines an already impressive reputation as a wedding venue, including previously reaching the finals of the awards,”
he said.
“This is likely to be an attraction to variety of prospective new owners, together with the undoubted appeal of an asking price that has been reduced to £1.5million, and the fact that this is a property which appeals to a wide client base, ranging from couples getting married, to businesses holding conferences, to walkers, cyclists and canoeists exploring nearby Dartmoor National Park.”
Dartmoor Lodge Hotel is located off the A38 in 1.65 acres of grounds, which include car parking for over 100 cars, and a licensed outdoor wedding area. There are a currently total of 23 en suite letting bedrooms, a main bar and restaurant, a functions suite, plus two meeting rooms.

“The hotel has been refurbished by the present owners, who have also done much to reinvigorate the business, which has recent accounts showing annual net sales of circa £1.2 million. However, there is potential for the business to be expanded further, and for the number of letting rooms to be increased by reducing the extent of the private accommodation.”
