Specialist lender Together bolsters its corporate team in the Midlands

Finance company Together has appointed a commercial banker with more than two decades’ experience as a Corporate Relationship Director.

Mike Tierney, of Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, started his new role at the award-winning lender – which has a loan book of more than £4.8billion – last month.

He joins Together from Allied Irish Bank, where he held a number of positions in commercial lending for over 15 years, most recently heading up a team managing a portfolio of corporate clients.

Most recently he led the bank’s team focusing the hospitality and leisure sector, with customers looking for finance of up to £20million. Previously, Mike spent five years at the Bank of Ireland as a Corporate Relationship Manager, based in Birmingham.

At Together he will be focusing on growth in the corporate lending market in the Midlands, helping clients such as large businesses, individual investors, property developers and SMEs seeking flexible finance, typically of £1million or more.

Mike said:

“As soon as I heard about Together’s ambitious growth plans, I knew it was an organisation that I wanted to be a part of and, having met the team, I quickly discovered what a great culture the business has.

“There’s a real ‘can-do’ attitude and a real appetite to help entrepreneurial corporate clients find the finance they’re looking for. This is incredibly refreshing at a time when many banks and other high street lenders can find themselves unable to meet corporate borrowers’ needs.”

Mike, a married father-of-three, has been hired alongside additional Corporate Relationship Directors in London, Yorkshire and Scotland, who have been employed in response fast-growing demand for Together’s flexible secured lending products. They will report to Corporate Managing Director Chris Baguley.

Chris Baguley said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Mike to the team. He brings with him exceptional experience, knowledge, ambition and drive to help us deliver our aspirations to be the number one choice for corporate finance in this market.

“Our loan book across the group now stands at more than £4.8billion and we are determined to grow this even more in the near future. Mike will play his part in this exciting journey by supporting businesses and their advisers across the Midlands with lending solutions tailored to their needs and delivered efficiently to help them meet their own ambitions.”
